Holiday Safety Tips!
The holiday season is a time for celebration, but it can also pose unique risks for our furry family members. Keep your pets safe and stress-free this season with these simple tips:
-
Mind the Menu: Many holiday foods are harmful to pets. Avoid feeding your pets chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, alcohol, and anything sweetened with xylitol. Keep rich, fatty table scraps out of reach.
-
Decorate with Care: Tinsel, ribbons, string lights, and glass ornaments can be tempting for curious pets but may cause choking, intestinal blockages, or injuries. Secure decorations and keep them out of paw’s reach.
-
Create a Safe Space: Holiday gatherings can be overwhelming for pets. Set up a quiet, comfortable area where they can retreat from the noise and activity.
-
Be Cautious with Candles and Fireplaces: Pets may accidentally knock over candles or get too close to open flames. Always supervise them around fire, and use protective barriers when needed.
-
Watch the Door: With guests coming and going, it’s easy for pets to slip out unnoticed. Make sure they’re wearing ID tags and are microchipped in case they get lost.
-
Holiday Plants Can Be Poisonous: Keep pets away from poinsettias, holly, mistletoe, and lilies, which can be toxic if ingested.
This holiday season, let’s make safety a priority—for every member of the family, paws included!
