Keep Candy Out of Reach: Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free treats), and other Halloween candies are toxic to pets. Store all treats in secure containers, and remind children not to share with pets.

Beware of Costumes: Costumes can be cute, but not all pets enjoy wearing them. If you dress your pet, make sure the costume fits well, doesn’t restrict movement, breathing, or vision, and has no small parts that could be chewed or swallowed.

Secure the Door: Trick-or-treaters mean frequent doorbell rings and an open door. Pets can become anxious or slip out unnoticed. Keep them in a quiet, secure room away from the front door during peak hours.

Watch the Decorations: Lit candles in pumpkins, string lights, fake cobwebs, and other spooky décor can be hazardous if chewed or knocked over. Choose pet-safe decorations and keep cords and flames out of reach.
